There’s a small thing about eBooks and Audiobooks from the big platforms that has always bothered me: you pay, and in the end you still own nothing. A license, chained to an account, tied to an app, revocable at any moment. I wanted it to be different for my own books. So now you can find them all in one place — on my terms, and above all on yours.
Books that are actually yours
Every one of my titles is available as an ePub download — with no copy protection whatsoever. No DRM, no mandatory account, no expiry date. You download the file, and it’s yours: to read on a Tolino, a Kindle, a tablet, your phone or your laptop, today and ten years from now. A book you’ve bought should be a book you get to keep. It really is that simple.
There’s a reason this works: trust. I assume that people who want to read about cattle from the first second after the Big Bang, or about the German voice in the first American Congress, don’t need locks to behave decently.
Audiobooks — in the quality that suits you
Every audiobook is available as an m4b download, with proper chapter markers, the way it should be. And in two versions, because not every listening situation is the same:
The 192 kbps version for home, for good headphones, for the musical transitions between chapters in full glory. And the 64 kbps version for the road — slim enough that even a packed smartphone won’t throw in the towel. Same audiobook, same voice, same stories. You simply pick whichever fits the moment.
And new: my own streaming service

This is the part I’m especially proud of, because until now it only ran through the big providers — and that’s exactly what I wanted to leave behind.
Buy an audiobook and you’ll receive a magic link by email. One click, and the audiobook plays right in your browser — no app to install, no gigabytes on your phone, no Amazon or Audible in between. The player remembers where you left off and picks the thread back up on your next device, exactly where you stopped. So you can start on the sofa, keep listening on the train, and finish in the kitchen without ever hunting for your place.
No account, no subscription, no algorithm telling you what to listen to next. Just you, the book, and a link.
Where to find it
You’ll find all of it in my shop at books.andreas-john.net — the English titles as well as the German ones, as eBooks, as audiobooks to download, and to stream.
I built the whole thing small and independent on purpose: between you and my stories there’s no corporation, just a server and a little trust. That’s exactly how it should be.
Happy reading and listening.
